Susan Ashley ~ Original Music
I wrote my first song at the age of 12. Since then, I've
written over 150 songs and I finally decided it was time
to post some of them on my website rather than have them
die a lonely death in the plastic bin under my bed!
Although I've had several production and record deals
over the years, I guess it wasn't in the cards for me to
become the big recording artist I had dreamed of. However,
I am still writing and still holding on to the hope, that
one day I will hear one of my songs on the radio!
Here are just a few songs to start out with. I will be
adding songs to this category periodically so keep checking
back! Hope you enjoy them! Eventually I will be making a
CD with many of my originals and intend to donate most of
the profits to some of my favorite animal charities.

"We felt it was important to pen some sort
of statement about the "culture of
cold-heartedness" that seems to saturate
human ethics in many ways. We wanted to
focus on the notion that male "bravado"
seems to be a driving factor in the
objectivism we have adopted of late.
Our mission is animal welfare, and the song
begins there... but it follows that the same
ethic of compassion should extend to all
corners of our lives. The story in the song
is told from the perspective of a young man
who is realizing this view at a gut level as
his life unfolds... "

"Although I had nothing to do with the
writing of this song, I wanted it to be part
of the collection. Celia and I have been
friends and writing partners for years and
we both share a tremendous love and respect
for the animals we share our planet with. A
few years ago we had written up a program
called "It's Not Cool to be Cruel" that we
were planning on taking into the public
school system to teach children about pet
responsibility. Unfortunately, we never got
the project off the ground. This was one of
the songs that was to be part of that
program. It's always been one of my
favorites"
